Indy’s Understanding

of the Scriptures and Perfection

We are Atman and that means we are a part of Brahman (or God). Our true Reality is our larger-cased Self and not our smaller-cased self (using the definition of Reality as that which never changes). Our true Self is eternal, never dying. This holds true for everyone and everything, and that is why we should feel at one with everything.

What is our larger-cased Self? It is our Essence, and that is what we need to discover, seek, or come to understand. Where do we find our Essence? Inside, inside, inside. It is very deep inside. What is our Essence? In some ways it can be defined as emptiness, “nothingness”; however, I think a better term for it is Purity (or Perfection) which includes peace, love, goodness (with the understanding that words are not necessarily truths, but generally accepted concepts which we all have come to understand, accept, and agree upon their basic meaning). In other words, our Essence cannot be beat. It is Perfection.

The true form of meditation is not a simple breathing exercise (e.g., counting breaths to ten, although that can be used as a start). True meditation is when we dig down (think, consider, seek) for our understanding of Essence, or in other words, when we seek understanding of what our Essence really is. A quiet period of relaxation is not required for meditation (although that can help, especially at first, and may be the easiest time for considering Essence). The goal is to meditate every moment of this life’s existence, regardless of whatever it is that we are doing. Anything other than that is when we exist as our smaller-cased self.

So then, where does that leave us? What does this say about Action? Essentially it says this—let things Be (remember the Beatles?) as they are, which is Perfection. Live in the present (the now). Be Passersby. Face whatever comes forward with the understanding of your Essence, your true Self, and not your smaller self. Seek nothing external for your action, but instead, seek only to solidify with every action your internal understanding of your Essence. And then, Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You.

Basic to this is the hidden question that I raised in The Sower’s Seeds with my Confucius statement about thinking three times or two times before taking action. With Essence in control, one need not think at all before taking action. So in other words, the goal is to build your understanding (or knowledge) of Essence, such that every action that you take uses your Essence as your foundation for that action.

God does not want (or need) us to worship God. God does not even want us to know God; however, for whatever it is worth, knowing your true Essence is to know Brahman (God).
