Thought Versus the Essence of Mind

January 14th, 2008

On one’s way to enlightenment (or Essence of Mind) there is no better warning for the aspirant than the one that says “You’re Thinking Too Much.” In other words, the Essence of Mind (or original enlightenment) is free from Thoughts. The Essence of Mind is Eternal, non-changing, and thus must be empty of changing thoughts.

It is important to understand that Knowledge is different from Wisdom, and Knowledge derived from Thoughts does not lead to Enlightenment. In other words, words are words, thoughts are thoughts, and neither lead to True Wisdom or Enlightenment. Read the rest of this entry »

The Sower Went Out to Sow

January 8th, 2008

The title for my first novel, The Sower’s Seeds, was inspired from a parable that can be found in four different gospels: Matthew (Chapter 13); Mark (Chapter 4); Luke (Chapter 8); and last, but not least Thomas (saying number 9). The parable goes something like this:

On the Subject of Writing and Why

September 12th, 2007

My brother is a very successful business person, and one day while I was right smack in the middle of writing The Sower’s Seeds, my first novel, he said that he did not understand why anyone would waste his or her time writing anything, let alone something as meaningless as a novel of fiction.

Although the intent of my brother’s remark was not meant to offend—he was actually concerned about my well being—I would be lying if I said his words did not raise serious doubts about what I was doing with my writing endeavor.

By the grace of God

September 8th, 2007

By the grace of God I am a Christian, by my actions a great sinner, and by calling a homeless wanderer of the simplest origins, traveling from place to place. As so begins the tale of The Way of a Pilgrim, so I will begin my website blog. Read the rest of this entry »
